Roster Move: Bears sign tight end Jared Pinkney, release receiver Thyrick Pitts

The Chicago Bears announced Monday that they have signed tight end Jared Pinkney and, in a corresponding move, have released receiver Thyrick Pitts.

Pinkney played with the Los Angeles Rams last season (4 games) and the Detroit Lions (2 games) in 2021. In total, he has only six games of NFL experience.

He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Atlanta Falcons in 2020.

The Bears are loaded at the tight end position already with Cole Kmet, Robert Tonyan, Chase Allen, Jake Tonges, and Stephen Carlson.

It should be interesting to see how the TE competition plays out during camp and preseason because the team can't carry all these tight ends on the roster for the entire season.

They may keep three or four and eventually sign the others to the practice squad.

The Bears return to practice on Monday.
