Willi Castro Interview Highlights

(00:00–00:27) Castro was still in Minnesota when he learned—30 minutes before the deadline—that he was traded to the Cubs. He anticipated it, so he stayed home rather than traveling with his team to Cleveland.

(01:05) He says the Cubs are a great fit and already feels at home due to the team’s welcoming environment and winning culture.

(01:29) Castro highlights his versatility, saying he can play second base, shortstop, or outfield. He prides himself on being a true utility player.

(02:23) He emphasized the value and rarity of being able to play multiple positions, calling it a “privilege.”

(02:41–03:24) Former Tigers manager A.J. Hinch encouraged him to move to the outfield, which helped him grow into a more complete utility player. Shortstop remains his favorite due to his roots.

(03:24–04:09) He’s impressed with the Cubs' balance of pitching and hitting and loves the team chemistry. He describes Wrigley Field as one of the best and most special places he’s played.

Andrew Kittredge Interview Highlights

(04:31–04:50) Kittredge said the timing of his trade worked out well logistically—he didn’t need to fly across the country and was already in town to face his old team.

(05:12) Joining a playoff-contending team midseason is exciting and aligns with his goal of making a postseason run.

(05:31–05:49) He moved from the Orioles’ hotel to the Cubs’ team hotel for convenience, especially with his family in town.

(05:49–end) Kittredge hasn’t had detailed conversations yet about his bullpen role but is comfortable in any situation. He’s ready for high-leverage innings and just wants to contribute to winning.
