CHICAGO — With the Chicago Cubs in desperate need of a turnaround following a 1-9 road trip, shortstop Javier Baez provided them with a spark early in Monday's game by making a nice defensive play to end the top of the first. Baez went down on the infield dirt in order to glove a screamer hit by Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Bryce Harper, and the Cubs proceeded to turn two.

After walking second baseman Jean Segura with one out, starter Zach Davies forced Harper to hit a ground ball, which Baez gloved before quickly getting back on his feet and stepping on second base. Baez then fired a throw to first baseman Anthony Rizzo, thus completing the 6-3 double play and pumping up the Wrigley Field crowd.
