Cubs starting pitcher Alec Mills threw the 16th no-hitter in team history against the Brewers on Sunday afternoon.

Mills spoke with the media following the historic performance and shared some of his reactions.

"It's kinda hitting me know. I am just overwhelmed," he said. "Obviously, a once in a lifetime type of thing and I'll always remember it and just look back and be thankful."

Mills said that he had to control his heartbeat at the last few innings of the contest.

"I can promise you it was not a slow heartbeat. I kinda had to take a seat and calm myself down. I actually went to the locker room between the eighth and the ninth inning. I told the guys I had to take a lot of deep breaths and calm myself down and try to get into a good mindset to go out and attack."

Mills wants people to know to strive to be their best because he has come from humble beginnings as a walk-on in college.

"I'm just proud to be that person that can tell you to never give up. Never stop playing. Never let people tell you what you can and can't do and just keep persevering and be the best person you can be."
