Report: Cubs will non-tender Albert Almora Jr. |
The Chicago Cubs won't be tendering out a contract to
Albert Almora Jr. for the 2021 season according to multiple reports.
Almora was a former No. 1 draft pick that showed flashes of greatness defensively but could never get his bat going enough. In 2020, he hit .167 (5-for-30) with a .465 OPS in a limited action before being sent down to South Bend. He made around $1.6 million this past season. This is a disappointing end for Almora for the Cubs but he will get a fresh start elsewhere in the bigs because teams are always looking for someone to play great defense. Thank you Albert Almora for everything you’ve done for Chicago & the organization. 8 years of hard work & dedication. Without you tagging up in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, we may not have won. Best of luck to you. Forever a Cub! @albertalmora
